Message from The Director of Civil Aviation |

The ever increasing growth of Air Traffic worldwide has placed tremendous demands on International Civil Aviation systems to find new and innovative ways of maintaining a healthy, efficient and safe aviation environment. It has been my privilege to see the Barbados Civil Aviation Department develop over the past several decades from its humble beginnings into the vibrant organization it is today, equipped to meet and handle the challenges of a very dynamic industry. This department at its inception more than forty (40) years ago, started with only a three (3) person management team consisting of a Director of Civil Aviation, a Deputy Director and a Senior Air Traffic Control Officer supervising twelve (12) Air Traffic Control Officers and five (5) Assistants. It has evolved over the past four decades in order to meet the needs resulting from the growth in the industry and now has a staff of eighty-eight (88) persons spread across the four sub-sections of: Administration, Training, Air Traffic Services, Flight Safety Services and includes office support and general staff. This website is intended to provide an overview of the role, functions and responsibilities of the Barbados Civil Aviation Department, to provide necessary information and to facilitate the online completion and download of forms. Similarly to our department, we intend that this website would evolve overtime to become a medium through which we can offer our products and services to the Public and aviation industry in an expeditious, efficient and cost effective manner. Filing of Flight Plans online and the provision of web-based training are no longer futuristic concepts but are now viable options for service delivery that are being considered. We hope that you will find this website useful and informative. We welcome your comments and suggestions.Enter, be informed, and enjoy. |
